The Jamia Alumni Network is delighted to congratulate Dr Muhammad Gulam Murshed (Ujjol), a proud alumnus of Shahjalal Jamia Islamia School & College (Class of 2000), on his appointment as Chief Coordinator of the newly formed Patuakhali Science and Technology University (Barishal Campus) Alumni Association, announced on 12 May 2023.
His appointment is a reflection of the confidence and trust placed in his leadership by fellow alumni and recognises his continued commitment to strengthening alumni engagement and professional collaboration.
Continuing the Spirit of Alumni Leadership
After completing his SSC at Jamia in 2000, Dr Murshed pursued higher education at Patuakhali Science and Technology University (PSTU), where he graduated from the Faculty of Animal Science and Veterinary Medicine, earning the prestigious Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree.
As a member of the university’s pioneering veterinary student cohort, he has remained closely connected with his fellow graduates and his alma mater. His appointment as Chief Coordinator reflects his dedication to bringing alumni together, fostering professional networks and strengthening the relationship between graduates and the University.
The newly formed Alumni Association aims to unite graduates, encourage knowledge sharing, promote professional collaboration and contribute to the continued development and reputation of Patuakhali Science and Technology University.
A Career Built on Professional Excellence
Alongside his commitment to alumni leadership, Dr Murshed has built an impressive professional career within the veterinary and animal nutrition sectors.
At the time of his appointment, he was serving as Sales Manager at Kemin Industries Bangladesh, the Bangladesh operation of Kemin Industries, a privately owned global bioscience and ingredient manufacturer operating in more than 90 countries. The company develops over 500 specialty ingredients supporting animal nutrition, human health, pet food and sustainable agriculture, helping improve food safety and animal wellbeing around the world.
His professional expertise, combined with his leadership experience, has earned him the respect of colleagues throughout the veterinary profession.
A Record of Leadership and Service
Dr Murshed has consistently demonstrated a willingness to serve beyond his professional responsibilities.
In 2016, he was elected as a Member of The Vet Executive, the leading organisation representing private-sector veterinary professionals in Bangladesh. Through this role, he contributed to promoting professional standards and supporting the development of veterinary services across the country.
His latest appointment as Chief Coordinator of the PSTU Alumni Association continues this journey of leadership, bringing graduates together to support one another while contributing to the advancement of their profession and their University.
