The Jamia Alumni Network is proud to share that two of our distinguished Jamians were recognised at the Expatriate Honour Award 2025, held on Saturday, 27 December 2025 at the Kobi Nazrul Auditorium, Rikabi Bazar, Sylhet, Bangladesh.
Muhammad Monzurul Haque (মোহাম্মাদ মনজুরুল হক, ২০০০ ব্যাচ), Jamia 2000 batch, received the award under the Successful Professional category, in recognition of his contributions and achievements as a Bangladeshi expatriate. Jahid Ahmed, Jamia 2002 batch (জাহিদ আহমেদ, ২০০২ ব্যাচ), was honoured under the Sports category, acknowledging his dedication and impact in the field of sports.
Out of 600 applications, a panel of experts selected 103 recipients across six categories for the Expatriate Honour Award 2025. It is a matter of great pride that two of these 103 awardees are Jamians. Muhammad Monzurul Haque (Jamia 2000) received the award under the Successful Professional category, while Jahid Ahmed (Jamia 2002) was honoured under the Sports category. Muhammad Haque was able to travel to Bangladesh and receive the award in person. Jahid Ahmed could not attend in person, and his award was received by his father as a representative, who himself was also honoured at the same ceremony.
Muhammad Haque is currently working as a Library Systems Officer at the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham, while Jahid Ahmed working as Operations Manager at the Platform Cricket and Blackheath Cricket Club.
This occasion was particularly significant as it marked the first time expatriates from Sylhet Division were formally recognised by the Government of Bangladesh, with the programme organised by the Sylhet District Administration. The initiative represents an important milestone in acknowledging the contributions of expatriates to their homeland and communities.
The Jamia Alumni Network extends its heartfelt congratulations to Muhammad Haque and Jahid Ahmed on this prestigious recognition. Their achievements continue to inspire current and future Jamians, reflecting the enduring values of excellence, service, and commitment fostered at Jamia.
জামেয়া অ্যালামনাই নেটওয়ার্ক গর্বের সঙ্গে জানাচ্ছে যে, আমাদের দুইজন কৃতী জামেয়ান Expatriate Honour Award 2025 এ সম্মানিত হয়েছেন। অনুষ্ঠানটি অনুষ্ঠিত হয় শনিবার, ২৭ ডিসেম্বর ২০২৫, কবি নজরুল অডিটোরিয়াম, রিকাবীবাজার, সিলেট, বাংলাদেশ এ।
মোহাম্মাদ মনজুরুল হক (২০০০ ব্যাচ) ‘Successful Professional’ ক্যাটাগরিতে পুরস্কার গ্রহণ করেন। প্রবাসে থেকে পেশাগত উৎকর্ষ, দায়িত্বশীলতা ও সমাজে ইতিবাচক অবদানের স্বীকৃতি হিসেবেই এই সম্মাননা প্রদান করা হয়। একই অনুষ্ঠানে জাহিদ আহমেদ (২০০২ ব্যাচ) ‘Sports’ ক্যাটাগরিতে পুরস্কৃত হন, খেলাধুলার ক্ষেত্রে তাঁর ধারাবাহিক নিষ্ঠা ও প্রভাবের স্বীকৃতিস্বরূপ।
মোট ৬০০টি আবেদন থেকে বিশেষজ্ঞদের একটি প্যানেল ছয়টি ক্যাটাগরিতে ১০৩ জনকে Expatriate Honour Award 2025 এর জন্য নির্বাচিত করেন। গর্বের বিষয় হলো, এই ১০৩ জন সম্মানপ্রাপ্তের মধ্যে আমাদের দুইজন জামিয়ান রয়েছেন। মোহাম্মাদ মনজুরুল হক (জামিয়া ২০০০ ব্যাচ) ‘Successful Professional’ ক্যাটাগরিতে এবং জাহিদ আহমেদ (জামিয়া ২০০২ ব্যাচ) ‘Sports’ ক্যাটাগরিতে সম্মানিত হন। মোহাম্মাদ হক সরাসরি বাংলাদেশে উপস্থিত থেকে নিজ হাতে পুরস্কার গ্রহণ করেন। অপরদিকে জাহিদ আহমেদ ব্যক্তিগতভাবে উপস্থিত থাকতে না পারায় তাঁর পক্ষে তাঁর বাবা পুরস্কার গ্রহণ করেন, যিনি একই অনুষ্ঠানে নিজেও সম্মাননায় ভূষিত হন।
বর্তমানে মোহাম্মাদ মনজুরুল হক যুক্তরাজ্যের London Borough of Barking and Dagenham এ Library Systems Officer হিসেবে কর্মরত। অপরদিকে জাহিদ আহমেদ কাজ করছেন Platform Cricket and Blackheath Cricket Club এ Operations Manager হিসেবে।
এই আয়োজনটি বিশেষভাবে তাৎপর্যপূর্ণ, কারণ এই প্রথম সিলেট বিভাগের প্রবাসীদের সরকারিভাবে সম্মাননা প্রদান করা হলো, যা আয়োজন করে সিলেট জেলা প্রশাসন। প্রবাসে বসবাসরত বাংলাদেশিদের দেশের প্রতি অবদান ও নিজ নিজ কমিউনিটিতে তাঁদের ভূমিকার স্বীকৃতিতে এটি একটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ মাইলফলক।
জামেয়া অ্যালামনাই নেটওয়ার্ক এই মর্যাদাপূর্ণ স্বীকৃতির জন্য মোহাম্মাদ মনজুরুল হক ও জাহিদ আহমেদকে আন্তরিক অভিনন্দন জানায়। তাঁদের সাফল্য বর্তমান ও ভবিষ্যৎ জামিয়ানদের অনুপ্রেরণা জোগাবে এবং জামিয়ার সেই চিরন্তন মূল্যবোধ উৎকর্ষ, সেবা ও প্রতিশ্রুতি কে আরও দৃঢ়ভাবে প্রতিফলিত করবে।
