Sher-E-Bangla Indian Takeaway of Longfield, owned and led by Jamia Alumnus Mumith Chowdhury Sumon (SSC 1996 Batch), has once again made headlines by winning the Asian Restaurant & Takeaway Awards (ARTA) 2024 – Kent Takeaway of the Year, securing the title for the second consecutive year. This outstanding achievement reflects the consistency, excellence and relentless commitment with which Sumon and his team have built Sher-E-Bangla into a trusted name in the community.

The Asian Restaurant & Takeaway Awards (ARTA) is widely recognised as the “Oscar of the Curry Industry”, a title endorsed by national media such as BBC and Sky. It is the most prestigious celebration of Pan-Asian cuisine in the United Kingdom, attended each year by leading restaurateurs, Members of Parliament, culinary experts and cultural figures. Winning an ARTA award once is considered a major honour – winning it twice in a row sets Sher-E-Bangla apart as one of the very best in the entire UK industry.

This year, Sher-E-Bangla triumphed over strong regional competitors to once again claim the top spot as Kent Takeaway of the Year. The ARTA judging process is known for being exceptionally rigorous and transparent, involving:
