The inaugural Sylhet Nirman School Sylhet Nirman School Cricket Legends Trophy UK 2025 concluded in spectacular fashion at Seven Kings Park, Ilford on Thursday, 7 August 2025, with Shahjalal Jamia Islamia School & College Alumni UK Team being crowned Unbeaten Champions after a flawless run through the tournament.
This historic event, the first of its kind in the UK, brought together alumni teams of four leading schools from Sylhet, Bangladesh – Shahjalal Jamia Islamia School & College, Blue Bird High School and College, The Aided High School, and Sylhet Government Pilot High School – in a spirit of friendly competition, nostalgia and unity through cricket.

A clinical chase powered by unbeaten half-centuries from AZM Johnny (56)* and Jahid Ahmed (56)* sealed the victory for Jamia in style. Jahid Ahmed was deservedly named Player of the Match, while AZM Johnny took the Best Batter award and Ari Adnan earned Best Bowler for his tight spell earlier in the innings.
The Sylhet Nirman School Legends Trophy UK 2025 was more than just a tournament – it was a celebration of heritage, alumni pride, and cross-generational camaraderie. Organised by and for the Sylheti community in the UK, the tournament has set a new benchmark for alumni sporting events, with hopes to continue and grow in the years to come.
A very special presence on the day was Jonab Abdus Shakur, former Vice Principal of Shahjalal Jamia Islamia School & College, who is currently visiting the UK from Bangladesh. He attended the entire final match, and his support and words of encouragement were deeply appreciated by the team, inspiring the players throughout this historic day.
Coach Nadir Bakth, Team Manager Hussain Ahmad Masum, and Team Captain Syed Ahmed Mahfuz extended their heartfelt thanks to all the players, supporters, and the wider Jamian community for their unwavering support throughout the tournament. They emphasised that this victory was the result of collective effort, unity, and dedication – both on and off the field.
With Jamia’s unbeaten run and thrilling performances, the 2025 title goes down in history as a moment of pride for all Jamians worldwide!
