Jamia Alumni Leading the Way – Dr Sultan Ahmed as Chief Guest at Jamia College Orientation

The Freshers’ Reception and Orientation Programme for the new Class XI students of Shahjalal Jamia Islamia School & College (College Section) was held on Wednesday 17 September 2025 in the college auditorium, marking another inspiring chapter in Jamia’s proud academic journey.

The event was presided over by Principal Jonab Mohammad Golam Robbani and conducted by Lecturer Jonab Muhibur Rahman. The highlight of the programme was the presence of Professor Dr Sultan Ahmed (DVM, MS in Microbiology, Ph.D (BAU)), Department of Microbiology and Immunology at Sylhet Agricultural University, as the Chief Guest – himself a proud Jamia Alumnus – 1990 Batch, symbolising how former students continue to inspire and contribute to their alma mater’s growth.

Welcome Speech: Assistant Professor & College In-Charge Mohammad Rafiqul Islam Mazumdar.

Other speakers included Assistant Head Teacher Md Mostafa Kamal, Girls’ Section In-Charge Morsheda Akter, Secondary Section In-Charge Zakia Nuri Chowdhury, Assistant Professor (Chemistry) Md Zafar Iqbal Mahmud, Senior Teacher Md Abdur Rob, Lecturer Monzur Rahman, Kishor Kontho Readers’ Forum President Arifuzzaman Rukon, Guardian Zahidur Rahman, and Class XII student Sakib Ahmad Nahid.

In his address, Dr Sultan Ahmed praised Jamia’s long-standing contribution to expanding education among underprivileged communities and emphasised the importance of respect towards parents and teachers. He also encouraged students to maintain regular attendance and discipline as key factors for academic success.

The event saw an impressive gathering of both new and continuing students, showcasing the unity, enthusiasm, and academic spirit that define Jamia.

This occasion stood out not only for welcoming new students but also for celebrating the active engagement of Jamia Alumni, like Dr Sultan Ahmed, who continue to lead by example – connecting the institution’s proud past with its promising future.
