Shah Afzal – Jamia Alumnus embracing Data Science and Emerging Technologies

Jamia graduate Shah Afzal has successfully completed the prestigious “Python Programming and Basic Data Science” training organised by the Institute of Information and Communication Technology (IICT), Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST). The intensive 80-hour course, held from December 2024 to February 2025 under the EDGE (Enhancing Digital Government and Economy) Project of the Bangladesh Computer Council, ICT Division, has equipped him with solid foundations in Python, data handling and introductory machine learning concepts. The certificate was formally issued on 17 May 2025.

Shah Afzal is currently pursuing a Masters in Information Technology at SUST (January 2023–present), focusing on modern computing, data science and AI. Earlier, he completed his BSc in Computer Science and Engineering from Metropolitan University, Sylhet (2017–2021), following his Higher Secondary Certificate (Science) from Sylhet Government Model School and College and Secondary School Certificate (Science) from Shahjalal Jamia Islamia School and College.

Alongside his postgraduate studies he is actively exploring machine learning and deep learning, building the technical skills needed for future work in intelligent systems and data-driven solutions. His journey from Jamia to SUST and into the world of Python and data science reflects the growing presence of Jamians in Bangladesh’s digital and technological transformation.
