Alhamdulillah, it was a moment of immense pride and joy for Mozir Uddin Jonab, former Principal of Shahjalal Jamia Islamia School and College, to welcome his former student, Dr. Jamil Ahmad Adnan of SSC 1998, to his USA home during a recent visit to Connecticut, USA. Dr. Adnan, a brilliant alumnus of the institution, is currently serving as Principal Scientist, Analytical Research and Development at Pfizer, one of the world’s leading pharmaceutical companies.
Originally based in England, UK Dr Adnan has recently been posted to Pfizer’s global research and development headquarters in Groton, Connecticut. The Groton campus is the largest of Pfizer’s R&D sites and a major hub for drug discovery and development. Mozir Uddin Jonab fondly recalls learning that under Dr. Adnan’s leadership, senior scientists from various countries work collaboratively, with Dr. Adnan overseeing and supporting their research activities.
Dr Adnan’s relocation from the United Kingdom to the United States marks a remarkable professional advancement. His new role at Pfizer’s Groton, Connecticut campus – home to the company’s largest global research and development hub – is a testament to his exceptional expertise and leadership in the field of pharmaceutical science. This transition is not just a geographic move, but a promotion in every sense, placing him at the heart of cutting-edge drug discovery and development. It reflects both his personal dedication and the global recognition of his contributions to science and innovation.
Dr Adnan is not only a symbol of academic excellence but also a beacon of generosity and community spirit. During our time together, we visited the site of a future Islamic Centre in Connecticut. His commitment to faith-based community development is truly commendable.
Mozir Uddin Jonab also remembers with deep appreciation Dr Adnan’s thoughtful gesture during his visit to England last July-August, when Dr Adnan graciously allocated one of his homes for Mozir Jonab’s family. Such acts of kindness are unforgettable, and he prays that Allah grants Dr Adnan the best of rewards, increases him in honour and capability, and blesses him to continue serving humanity and the Muslim Ummah.
